This is the new MAC: Midlands Arts Centre

I had a quick look round MAC – the  arts centre in Cannon Hill park in Birmingham – thanks to Neil Holland and others from the comms team there. This video doesn’t show you everything, just a taste.  There’s plenty more to see when it opens on May 1st  with a gig from Misty’s Big Adventure and lots of other goodness – including a new commission from Stan’s Cafe and some new audio walks for the park.

I know I don’t normally write about this sort of thing but the old Mac oozed community and connection – this is brighter and fresher and better.

    Awesome!

I’m now 63 and have used the centre in some way since, at 16 me, and a crew from Hall Green Technical College were involved with doing some land survey work in the park and in setting out for the outside amphitheatre.
Since then my first 3 kids were educated and entertained in the centre during activities over the weekends and I even had a photographic exhibition there!

So for me there is mixed emotion. I liked the architecture of the old place but from the small snatch I have seen I like the modernisation.

I dont live in Birmingham anymore but when I do go there I seem to gravitate towards Cannon Hill Park and the MAC.
